Happy New Year! Have you ever wanted to just snap your fingers and magically have a committed new year plan? Or that your cravings for sugar and junk food are gone? Or that you actually feel motivated to want to get up early and workout?
Yea, me too! But I’ve learned over the years that nothing happens with the snap of a finger except one thing…
And that’s a CHOICE.
You can always choose to show up different. Making the choice doesn’t always mean it’s an easy road ahead. That’s why I want to encourage you to EASE BACK slowly this new year. Sustainable habits don’t just happen overnight, they are created day in and day out.

IT’S A PROCESS
Whatever it is you are struggling with – schedule/routine, sugar, carbs, sleep, exercise, etc – the point is not to expect perfection overnight.
Striving for perfection will only slow you down from changing your habits because PERFECTION does not exist.
Working towards something that does not exist is just a waste of your energy.
So give yourself grace and work to improve a bit each day and in no time you’ll be back on track and in control!

Having a meal plan is KEY to staying on track with nutrition!
If you haven’t been using a weekly meal plan yet, make it your goal this week to get one together.
Without it, you make more trips to the grocery store (more expensive and more snacks), you end up getting take out because you aren’t prepared, or you eat a bowl of cereal for supper…or 3…things can escalate pretty quickly 😜
So make a plan! And stick to it 🙌🏼 I’ve even attached a sample meal plan just like the ones I provide each week in my bootcamps, to help get you started!

At minimum, you should drink half your body weight in ounces.
It’s crucial to get enough water for: flushing out toxins & waste, regulating body temperature, carrying nutrients to your entire body, appetite & craving control, lubricating joints, hydrating skin & hair (add collagen for an extra boost!)
And more if you are doing strenuous workouts or in hot weather or sweating for any other reason (like chasing your kids or moving all of your ish into a new house like me 😂)

Anti-inflammatory foods can make a huge difference in how you feel and how your body functions.
According to Harvard Health, inflammation is triggered when your body tries to fight off any ‘foreigner’ like too much sugar, chemicals, additives, etc.
And that inflammation can cause some serious issues in your body (besides just feeling like garbage). 👎
The most common foods to cause inflammation include refined & processed carbs, fried foods, sugary beverages, and too much red meat and processed meats. So, first, stop eating those!
Signs of chronic inflammation include digestive problems, constant fatigue, aches and pains, swollen lymph nodes, stuffy nose, skin breakouts, brain fog, heartburn or headaches. Yikes!
It’s as simple as making sure you have at least a few of these in your daily diet…
🍅 Tomatoes
🥑Avocado oil
🥬 Green leafy vegetables
🌰 Nuts (almonds, walnuts, etc)
🐟 Fatty fish (salmon, mackerel, tuna, sardines)
🍒 Fruit (berries, cherries, oranges)
Basically a diet high in fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, fish, and healthy oils is best if you know you are struggling with inflammation.
