Elevate Your Social Media Game For Business Growth

April 23, 2024

Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match. Find me a find. Catch me a catch. Matchmaker, matchmaker, look through your book and make me a perfect match. Any fiddler on the roof fans? No. Okay.

So, anyway, that is what I consider myself when it comes to business, a matchmaker. Okay.

Hear me out. Let’s move on from our Broadway tunes. Much of my success in social selling has been hooking friends up with the right opportunities, whether it’s been business related or with the proper products.

Over the last decade, I’ve sold because that’s what this is. It’s social selling…. sales.

Everything from fitness programming, nutrition plans, supplements, high end red light therapy devices, expensive skin care products, different children’s clothing brands, and more.

There have even been business opportunities that I got into first, but knew that some of my friends would have been even better at promoting said product than me, whether it was Beachbody, aka BODi, where one of my friends who I signed up in the beginning after she was in my group for probably about, like, 3 or 4 months was getting killer results, like, was a product of the product, etcetera. I was like, oh my gosh.

Like, she would kill this. I’ve been doing this longer than her, and she knows the ins and outs better than I do. And I told her about the coaching opportunity.

And she ended up being in the Millionaire’s Club with me and hit many of the highest benchmarks of recognition within the company and, to this day, is still one of the top coaches in the network.

I introduced another good friend of mine who is an expert at low tox ingredients. So, essentially, what to look for and avoid in all types of products, whether it’s the food you’re giving your children, supplements you’re taking, skin care, etcetera.

And I introduced her to an expensive and potent skin care line that was made of 100% plants, and it completely, completely changed her annual income within 3 months to the point where she was kinda concerned about tax season, to be real with you.

And it also afforded her the opportunity to look for a larger home for her growing family, be less stressed about the upcoming birth of her daughter, and be that stay at home mom who was contributing significantly to her family’s income.

Key Elements for Social Selling Success

Over the years, I’ve also learned how to sell myself as a mentor both in business and as a golf professional. Whether it’s getting women like I just described to be the breadwinners of their family or taking beginner golfers and getting them to compete in our 9 hole and 18 hole events at the club, junior golfers, getting them started and then elevated into these high level golf tournaments.

I have the credibility and the people who 100% will back me up with their references. I don’t just talk. I walk the walk.

And I want you to ask yourself, what would it be like to post an affiliate link before you went to bed tonight, and then you woke up the next morning with multiple sales without you having to personally send it to people, follow-up with them, or heck, even beg them to purchase.

It’s taken practice and time, but there are 3 main things that I have learned and I encourage people to have as a part of their wheelhouse before they,

  • A – even think about diving into social selling,
  • B – before they even start working with me, because I wanna make sure that these three things are on lock so that when we work together, we can expedite success together.

Key to Social Selling #1 – What Are You An Expert On?

So the first is, what are you an expert on?
I have a lot of success connecting people to proper products, namely because I’m a very detailed researcher, and I’m also a storyteller.

You know, the other day, I posted a link on my Instagram stories about these methylated vitamin b capsules that I’ve been loving.

And I put the little 10% off coupon and then people are buying it. Like, I didn’t even talk in the clip, probably because I had to put it on mute because my toddler is just all the time.

And it’s literally 15 seconds of me showing the product and discussing the importance of it in text form in the caption. And, you know, I want you to think about, like, why is it that I can do that?

But if you or, you know, most other people right? If they were to do the same thing, you’d get a few store reviews, maybe a click or 2, but, like, definitely no purchases.

And when I’m talking about these things, I want you to keep in mind that I don’t have a massive following. Okay? There are people that you follow on social networks that have 100 of thousands of followers.

For me, it’s never been a numbers game, because it goes without saying, yes, of course, the larger pool of people that you’re pulling from, you’re naturally gonna have more people clicking and ergo purchasing.

But for me, all of the success that I’ve had in my business has come from these nurturing relationships that I’ve had. I’m not the person who’s going viral. I’m not the person with this squad, this girl squad of all these friends that, you know, I’m signing up to be a part of my team and my network. I’m not like that.

Importance of research and storytelling in sales

But before I posted this product and shared about it with the coupon code, the difference maker because I told you, it’s not because I have this massive following. It’s not because I’m, you know, instafamous and whatever.

It’s because I already had discussed and had authority over the topic in multiple places on my social media platforms, the reasons why I was using it. So this particular product is very important to me because I recently found out that I am MTHFR positive.

And I didn’t just, you know, choose a random brand. The ingredients are important to me. I’m not just throwing a code out of nowhere. Like, I’m the type of person that I have to believe in it, research it and try it myself.

And then if I like it and it’s working for me, yeah, sometimes the company will reach out to me, or I’ll reach out to the company and say, hey.

I know there are other people who are in the same boat as me with, for example, say, MTHFR, who I know would benefit from getting, you know, a discount code to try it. You know, do you have an affiliate program?

So when it comes to this particular product, right, first off, I openly discussed my feelings about finding out that I was MTHFR positive during this pregnancy. So I talked about my feelings.

I was raw and real about it, explaining to people what it is. I discussed face to camera, my thoughts, opinions, and, sometimes, yes, controversial thoughts on the topic.

I’ve openly shared resources and information to connect with my audience regarding MTHFR. So whether they felt like they were the only one who had it or, oh, wow. I’ve had a lot of these same symptoms too. I’ve never been officially diagnosed. Maybe I should.

I’m answering questions about how to, get officially diagnosed, etcetera.

I shared resources with not just my opinions and thoughts, but, doctors in the field and experts who can speak on it. I wanna make sure that there’s 3rd party tools for people. Free third party tools.

And I made sure that my thoughts and my opinions were expressed, that they were my own, and they were my own words without regurgitating things that I read somewhere else. I also made sure that this was a topic that I actually have a stance on before I started to discuss it.

Like, I don’t I don’t willy-nilly on social media. I literally don’t have time for that. Like, if I’m gonna be on social media, I’m gonna be talking to you, I’m gonna be, for lack of a better term, preaching, it’s because I’m super passionate about it.

I’m not someone to simply respond emotionally or bandwagon anything. Like, I’m just not it’s not who I am as a person. So when I shared about the product, it wasn’t random. It wasn’t reactionary, you know, because everyone else was doing it.

It was something that made sense to my audience. It was authentic to me and my who I am as a person and brand, and because of the necessary, like, steps that I took beforehand.

So this is an example of a business decision that many do not consider before they partner with a company or share their products.

You know, strategy like this is the difference between people buying from your links or not, homie, and it’s not something that you’d know simply from just watching someone else’s content and attempting to duplicate it.

Key to Social Selling #2 – Authenticity

Another piece that you must have locked down in order to find success in social selling is authenticity.

And a question you should ask yourself is, am I really me on social media? And in the last few years, there’s definitely been a shift from being extremely extravagant to obnoxiously relatable.

It’s as if people, a k a, you know, influencers, you know, network marketers, whatever, they realized that riding around in the jets with their Gucci loafers kicked up on the seat across from them no judgment on the loafers, by the way, as I have a pair.

But that doesn’t scream girl next door, aka the person that they’re trying to attract to buy their product, to click their link, to join their program, etcetera.

So then this shift happened where now everyone’s got, like, messy buns and leggings with no makeup on to make it seem like they’re just like you and me.

And then you have people like me, the unicorns of the world, who have no problem rocking an expensive handbag, k, while also wearing a white Hanes v neck t shirt that you get a 5 pack of at Walmart. And I’ve been that way forever, like, literally.

You know, some people are afraid to show you their college photos. Or, I mean, the only thing I don’t want you to see from my college photos is my lack of my microbladed eyebrows.

But, like, I’m the same person that I was when I was, you know… yes, I’m obviously more mature. I’m married. I have a second child on the way. Like, I’m a business owner, yada yada yada. But, like, the roots of who I am have been tried and true for decades.

And the issue is people can tell when you are performing and acting like somebody other than yourself. You know, I think sometimes people don’t think that. Like, they think that they can pull the wool over other people’s eyes, but it’s not true.

People can sniff that out. They can tell when you’re piecing together other people’s thoughts when they’re not your own, beliefs and words to tiptoe so you don’t ruffle any feathers.

So to you right now, like, you may think people buy from others who don’t rock the boat. And I don’t know where you heard that, but I am here to tell you that I have way more click throughs on my links and conversations about what I do in my DMs when people can tell that I am sharing my true thoughts, my beliefs, and opinions.

No matter what others who will disagree with me on, like, it doesn’t matter.

You know, my one good friend that I was explaining to you before about how I hooked her up with this great skin care line. She is someone who I was teasing her the other day.

She’s super successful, and she’s someone that I definitely wanna bring on here to share with you because I just love what she’s all about.

Like, she isn’t just one brand focused. I mean, she will try every single product out there to give you her own true opinion on it and what it did for her, what it didn’t do for her, etcetera.

She’s not locked into one thing. She tries it all to give you an unbiased opinion. And, a couple weeks ago, she was doing some story and talking about whatever she was talking about, and this is just who she is. Like, she doesn’t, she doesn’t care.

Like, she’s wearing her… I think it was, like, a Trump 2024 sweatshirt or something like that, and I was teasing her about it. I was like, oh, man. You know? That’s gonna set some people off, not me, but, like, it’s gonna set some people off.

And she’s like, yep, well, I am who I am, and it’s the truth. And that’s why people trust her because she’s not afraid to tiptoe and pretend that she’s some big bipartisan person or, you know, to, you know, shove her values underneath the rug. Like, she owns it. She owns who she is.

For me, I never have to say, what do I need to say to get people to buy so I can make more money?

Instead, my thought process is, how can I show up so that people know who I am, what I stand for, and what I’m saying is me? These are my words. This is how I feel.

Because guess what? When push comes to shove and someone wants to try to maybe, for lack of a better term, argue with me, disagree with me, I don’t backpedal. I don’t I don’t have these worries about, oh my gosh.

What is so and so going to think about me? And that’s very important when you’re in the social selling space. Because if you wanna survive, you need to have the fortitude to be able to deal with people who aren’t gonna agree with you.

But when you’re so rooted in your values and who you are as a person, it doesn’t shake you. And so I pass who I am as a person.

All of these thoughts and feelings through that lens, and therefore, the byproduct is where my true influence comes from.

Key to Social Selling #3 – Humility and Seeking Expertise

And my 3rd and final thing, if you’re looking to find success in online social selling, and what I look for when working with clients is the ability to be humble enough to know you’re not the expert in everything and when you need to ask for help.

Like, cut out the middleman and save yourself time. And I want you to think about it. And we’re just gonna use golf because that’s my wheelhouse. But if you wanted to perfect your swing in golf, you wouldn’t sit down and read a book. I mean, it’s a sport. It’s an outdoor sport.

It requires equipment and movement. You wouldn’t sit down and read a book. You also would not take the time to watch a ton of tutorials because your schedule is just too demanding.

There’s so many different opinions out there. It’s not catered to you. It’s not unique to your, maybe, your physique, to your experience level. Maybe something that you would do because your type a and your go getter is that you would maybe try to figure out yourself.

You’d go out to the range, hit a bucket, you know, go back a few days, hit some more, like and you would do this process, like, trying to teach yourself.

And because you have that personality, like, you might convince yourself that if you keep doing that, that it would be enough and you could make your own swing and be self taught.

And part of that is true, but there’s gonna reach a point where you’re gonna keep going to the range and it’s just not gonna get better. In fact, it might even get worse.

And maybe you’d be in denial for a little bit and try to convince yourself that you’re making progress, but deep down, like, you know you’re not, and you because you’re the type of person who likes to take an initiative and likes to win, you wanna get progress a lot faster.

Mentorship and Its Impact on Social Selling

So let me ask you, would you go on Instagram and download a ton of free get better golf guides, ones that you never open? Or would you watch a ton of videos because they’re free and, like, oh, I’ll learn something from Joe Schmo over in England. You? No. Not someone like you. You don’t have that time.

You would cut out the middleman and go straight to an expert and have them physically help you improve your swing. Give you the right pointers when it comes to, like I said, what is your mobility? What is your experience?

And make those adjustments and work with you to improve your swing with measurable improvement starting on day 1 from the start of the lesson to the end. I never let my students enter a lesson feeling defeated. I want them to feel some improvement, whether it’s a 30 minute lesson or an hour.

And the same goes for improving your cash flow in your business as a content creator and not wasting your time trying to do it on your own and owning gimmicky courses that don’t help you.

So if you don’t do this in other areas of your life, why the heck would you do it when it comes to building an income online? Like, don’t waste months of your time messing around and not seeing things improve because this works.

The Necessity Of Mentorship In Accelerating Success

But if you are diddling around, trying to do it yourself, you know, getting advice from every Tom, Dick, and Harry who you don’t know, it’s not unique to you, you’re gonna feel like it doesn’t work, and you’re gonna quit. And you’re gonna lose that opportunity to make some significant income.

That’s why mentorship matters. You can literally shave months to years off of what it would take you to do on your own or through a self study format that you don’t have the time or patience for anyway. So hear me out.

My schedule is opening for my upcoming program that has been in the works behind the scenes and includes my 10 plus years. Gosh. It’s been a long time.

It’s hard to believe, but it’s my 10 plus years of experience building consistent cash flow and financial flexibility online, and I want to share with you how to do it the right way without compromising who you are as a person and your morals and your values.

So if you’re the type of person that you know what the heck you’re talking about when it comes to a particular topic or brand.

You’re the researcher. Someone asks you a question. You can answer it right away. Like, you know, these things in and out. Check.

If you’re the person that when you show up on social media, you’re the tried and true you, check.

And if you’re the person who isn’t too prideful to ask for help when it’s time, check. So check. Check. Check.

Then you and I need to connect to help you stop wasting your time and start making more income online. It means that you’re ready to join my 90 day live group coaching program, like, full stop.

You’re actually gonna receive help that is unique to you and unique to your particular income goals within the industry that you want to serve.
